LONDON, August 8th, 2012 – MagazineCloner, the UK’s leading multi-platform digital publishing company, today announced that they are the first UK digital publishers to launch multiple Kindle Fire magazine branded apps. The magazine section of the Amazon app store now contains 14 titles from MagazineCloner’s clients, including Key Publishing, Unity Media and IDG UK, with a second batch to launch shortly.
The arrival of Kindle Fire branded apps further extends the MagazineCloner offering – with one upload now accessible via branded apps on Apple Newsstand, Google Play and Kindle Fire, plus additional newsstand distribution via Pocketmags on PC and Mac, Google Play, Kindle Fire and the recently launched iPad and Blackberry Playbook versions.
All of Kindle Fire’s magazine apps are free to download and offer users the chance to buy recurring subscriptions as well as single issues from well stocked issue catalogues. The Kindle Fire app replicates the multimedia functionality of the apps on other platforms, including on page video and galleries. Kindle Fire users can also link their purchases to their existing (or new) Pocketmags’ account which allows users to read their magazines on other platforms – ideal for readers who receive a new device, particularly with the Christmas period looming and significant further growth in the tablet market predicted.
Patrick Knight, Strategic Development Director of MagazineCloner said:
We’re delighted to launch our first Kindle Fire branded apps, this has been something we’ve looked forward to since meeting Amazon earlier this year. As well as instant availability in the US this also ensures our publishers’ presence in any future European launch. By their nature, Kindle users are ‘readers’ so we’re keen to see how digital magazine sales go on this new platform and hope it can develop into a significant new revenue stream alongside the established iOS sales and growing Android market.
